Need some quick help with QuickBooks. PayPal income is now being recorded as app transactions versus bank transactions, and my accountant can’t work with it this way for some reason:

“Now, I think what needs to be done is that you will need to go into the Apps Transaction and add all the lines from Shopify and Paypal and you can control what the income should appear if you have the information on your end. Once the PayPal items have been updated I am able to go into the Reconciliation portion to finalize March 2025 for PayPal USD.”

Just copied and pasted that because I don’t understand, but hopefully you do. :)

I’d also like to make some changes to how our income accounts are set up retroactive to January 2025. We currently have three categories of income, one of them being website sales. That is currently broken down to payments coming in from Shopify and PayPal. All sales are completed on PayPal; the only difference involves how the customer pays. We receive funds directly from PayPal for any orders paid with that method. The rest of the funds we receive from Shopify. I’m wondering if it is good to keep it broken down like this, or, since all sales are through Shopify, should we just have one category for a website income that includes both of these?

Regardless of whether or not we make that change, we would like to make sure we are showing total sales, discounts, returns, fees, and shipping income as separate categories within website income.. This is not something we have done in the past, but we are only looking to redo it from January 2025 to present and have it set up to automatically categorize these transactions correctly, moving forward.
