We're looking for a full stack developer to help create prototype software so we can evaluate the user needs and determine whether to continue with full development to production.

We have a backlog of several pieces of software of varying complexities ranging from very simple to very complex. The ideal candidate should be familiar with Node.JS, React, Postgres, and Python. The ideal candidate should be familiar with proper relational database structure. Almost all of the applications will connect with internal and external applications via API for data both ways. Proficiency speaking and writing in English is a requirement to communicate with our other team members and understand the requirements which are detailed and written in English.

The duration of this role is estimated to be between 4 - 8 months. Exceptional candidates will be considered for permanent roles within our company to maintain and support our new products.

The ideal candidate is able to work on our projects at least 15 hours per week, ideally 20+ hours.

The candidate must respond within 24 hours to emails and questions (during weekdays) about the development progress and should be available 2-3 times per week for brief development progress calls that are conducted during U.S. business hours.

Candidates should generally possess all the skills needed to fully develop the front and back end of the prototype, however we understand that you may occasionally need assistance from other resources to solve specific challenges and speed development along. You may request temporary help in certain areas to ensure timely and quality development.

We are seeking the following type of work arrangement to commence each of the individual projects. (Multiple projects may exist at once or overlap).
Step 1: We provide the basic requirements and technical detail for the software prototype to be created.
Step 2: You review the requirements, ask questions, and make suggestions for the stack's front and back end framework or database schema.
Step 3: We agree on the framework to be used and work together to set a timeframe for deliverables and milestones and estimated project completion.
Step 4: 2x-3x Weekly Check In Meetings. We perform a brief check-in approximately 2-3 times per week to monitor development progress and review latest code/make suggestions.
Step 5: Once a minimum viable product/prototype is ready, we will review all code and release to our business users for evaluation and comment. We will provide the commentary and work together to enhance/add features/modify as necessary.
Step 6: The prototype is complete and goes into maintenance mode where it is in testing with users and you provide occasional support to modify or improve it. The prototype will often remain here for 1 - 3 months before we make a decision whether to build it fully.
Step 7: If the prototype is selected for permanent development, you will assist in building out the product.

All work product is our exclusive property and may not be used, resold, copied, or reused in the development of other software for other clients.

For each project, candidates will propose a number of hours that we will mutually agree to, and dates for milestones to be met.

We are looking for creative individuals who enjoy trying new methods and can bring good ideas to our team and help us make better software for our internal users.

The first project that we will be prototyping is called an "Eligibility Engine" for home loans.

Step 1 is to design the Admin Panel for our internal users to perform CRUD functions on the data. A detailed database Schema, and sample layout will be provided. (See attached HTMLs for an example of what we will provide for examples, these are HTML mockups just to give an idea of layout, final product doesn't have to look identical to these, they are for clarification only). Also attached is a partial database schema. The final DB schema will have roughly 800 to 1000 fields in approximately 50 tables. We want to use React Front End, Node JS (or similar) backend and a Postgres DB. Software should be inside docker for easy testing and deployment. Security is important to all software we create, so we'll need a login interface, password reset functionality, user admin functions, etc.

Step 2: The first half of the tables in the DB store information about the loan products. The second half of the tables store rules and matrices which determine lending criteria. Configuring the UI for entering the rules into the DB via the Admin will be the next task. This will power the rules engine queries. The creation of an attractive and easy to use UI for entering rules and data is a large part of this requirement. Sample UI designs will be provided.

Step 3: Create complex queries of the Products in the rules engine and configure + document APIs to request these queries externally.

Step 4: The final step is the creation of a public user search page that uses the APIs to query the database. For example, on the user search page, they would enter their Loan Amount, Credit Score, Income, and Debt amounts, and the page would connect via API to the DB and return which loan programs they qualify for, and for the products they don't qualify for, it would return the reasons they don't qualify (the rules that were false for their query).

Project #2 is very similar to this project and builds upon Project #1 by not only answering what loan programs the customer qualifies for, but what the rates and fees associated with those products is for their situation. The public search page will first query for eligible products, and then use those products to query the pricing and fee database to return full information.


For examples of the general look/feel of the front end design for the Admin UI, see attached HTML mockups.

The DB structure will be provided in a format similar to the schema attached.

This software must be able to be worked on by multiple parties, so documenting the code is a strict requirement.

React and NodeJS were selected as other projects require websockets and compiled rulesets, and fast DB query & api performance is required for users querying from the public web page.
